Today I drew the spotty griffin! She's skinny, unlike the little cupcake griffin...

She's releasing one of those paper lanterns. The kind that have a candle inside and float in the air from the heat.

I want to send some of those up over the lake here. I think I'd have to pick a very still night though or it would just fly back over the condos over there and quite possibly burn down all the dune grass... That would probably be bad....

It's summertime, which means that little griffins are going on camp outs! And what's the best thing to do on  a camp out?

Tell ghost stories, that's what!!

The little chubby griffin is telling some littler griffins some very scary stories. They have to hold hands because it's too scary! The little spotty griffin has to tell her friend that it's going to be okay because it's only a story.

Why yes! I did think about this extensively! How could you tell?

Today he's going to the circus! He was very good. He was so very good he got a lolly AND a balloon!!

I think this little guy is extra adorable... He just seems so super snuggly!

AV and I have been watching Dirty Jobs with Mike Roe lately (they have it on DVD from the library!!! :D :D). The episode we watched today was about a monkey rehab/rescue in South Africa. I tried to draw one of the monkeys....

It didn't go over well :/

So, after that failure, I drew a griffin and a bicycle!!

He's washing his bike :D

I LOVE "vintage" cameras. You know, back when you had to use FILM in them??

We have somewhere between 10 and 20 of them now; we used them for centerpieces in our wedding!
  

This one is one of my favorites, it's a Kodak Brownie Starflash and it's actually in pretty good condition! Well, probably not that good, I don't think it would actually take photos anymore... Maybe, but it needs some work.

One of my friends asked for a logo for his business! He'd like a "patchwork teddy bear".

This is attempt number 1....

And then it went poorly....

This teddy bear looks like some sort of zombie teddy bear who might just be out for brains :(

More Miniature Paintings!

I am working on some free artwork for my friends, and I just finished TWO more paintings today!

The first is for my cousins who wanted a fairy like those of Cicely Mary Barker. I'm not really sure I captured the same spirit of Cicely Barker's fairies....

She's a dandelion fairy!

The second painting is for one of my high school friends. She told me she loves my creature drawings and since her son will be old enough to appreciate them soon, she'd like one!

So of course, I had to oblige!

Future Construction Worker

I have to find one of those dump trucks before I have kids! It's the Tonka Dump Truck, but when I was a kid they were all metal. Which meant that you could sit in them and race down the driveway. MY FUTURE CHILD NEEDS THIS.

I just see this griffin making engine noises as he pushes his blocks around :D

Remember the sketch I did yesterday?

I refined it today :D

It's a compass rose with a big "N" in the middle for our last name! I'm still going to work on it a bit, and if it turns out well, I'm going to see if I can get some vinyl stickers made up to stick on the kayaks!

I also drew some fantastic ancient egyptian artifacts. They're 100% genuine*!

This is AV's cat, Skippyjon Jones. Why, yes he IS named after a children's book character!

He is very pretty, but very very bad. One of his extra bad habits is that he licks AV's arms when he sits in his lap or sleeps in the bed. Its really weird....

I'm going to write a morbid children's book entitled "Flat-Jack and the Roadkill Band". They're going to be a bunch of road-kill animals who play in a bluegrass band.

Today I drew a dainty girl griffin!

You can tell because she has flowers in her hair!

Although, I suppose that could still be a boy griffin with flowers in his hair. I feel like boy griffins would also like flowers.
